Hello everyone!! My name is Ava Fries, and I’m LSLT’s new Conservation and Stewardship Specialist!
In my first two months at LSLT I’ve had the absolute best time visiting some of our incredible easement properties, getting to know our wonderful landowners, and helping create Coastal Resilience Management Plans that connect conservation goals with each landowner’s vision for their property. I’ve also gotten to spend plenty of time out in the field through site visits, stewardship monitoring, planting and restoration projects, and community events.
What drew me to LSLT most was the organization’s shared passion for both conservation and community. I love the Eastern Shore not just because of its beautiful landscapes and unique ecosystems, but because of the people here and the strong sense of community throughout the region. During the application process and over these past few months, it became really clear to me that those same values are at the heart of LSLT’s work.
Outside of work, I spend as much time outdoors as possible, paddle boarding, hiking, gardening, and volunteering with local bird rescues. When I’m not outside, you can find me trying new crafts and watching scary movies or reality TV with my cats. I’m beyond excited to be part of LSLT and can’t wait to keep working with this incredible team!
