As we approach the end of the year and celebrate our 35th anniversary, it’s a perfect moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, and the incredible momentum carrying us forward.

This year brought record engagement across our signature events. Our Native Plant Sale, Pollinator Garden Tour, and Flannel Formal each enjoyed banner years, drawing more participants and supporters than ever before. These events do more than bring our community together, they directly fuel our mission to protect and restore the natural landscapes of Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore.
Despite early uncertainty surrounding federal funding, we moved ahead with confidence and commitment. Thanks to strong partnerships and community support, we completed over 110 acres of grassland restoration, expanding critical habitat for pollinators and wildlife. We also conserved 158 additional acres of land this year, bringing us ever closer to a major milestone of 25,000 acres protected. We are on track to officially cross that threshold in 2026.

As we celebrate 35 years of conservation impact, we’re grateful for the landowners, volunteers, supporters, and partners who make this work possible. This milestone year also marked an important moment of reflection and planning, as our board and staff completed a new strategic vision to guide our work for the next five years, strengthening our focus on restoration, conservation, and community engagement.
Together, we honor the landscapes that define our region and look ahead to the next chapter, one filled with opportunity, resilience, and a shared commitment to stewarding the Lower Shore for generations to come.
As we look to the years ahead, we invite you to continue walking with us. Your support, whether through volunteering, attending events, spreading the word, or giving, all helps ensure that the lands, waters, and wildlife we cherish remain protected for generations to come.
Thank you for being part of this remarkable community, and for helping us carry the legacy of our first 35 years into a bright and hopeful future.
