The Lower Shore Land Trust was recognized at the PACE Showcase on April 23rd by Salisbury University’s PACE program (Public Affairs and Civic Engagement) with the Community Partner of the Year Award. This was both unexpected and deeply appreciated, and we see it as a strong reflection of the work our team has been doing.

PACE at SU holds several opportunities for students to become active and impactful members of the Salisbury community and beyond. Since its founding in 1999, PACE has served as a nonpartisan institute dedicated to providing students with hands-on experiences in a variety of public issues, service opportunities, public affairs research, and citizenship education.

Over the past several years, The Trust has built a meaningful partnership with PACE and Salisbury University. That has taken many forms: delivering guest lectures, partnering on Environmental Studies senior seminars, installing pollinator gardens, highlighting the University’s Arboretum through our Pollinator Garden Tour, and hosting both interns and AmeriCorps members. These efforts have allowed us to connect students to real-world conservation work while expanding our own capacity and impact.

“What stands out most about this recognition is that it speaks not just to what we’ve accomplished, but how we’ve approached the work. The team has consistently shown up as collaborative partners, educators, and mentors, and this award is a direct result of that commitment. We’re incredibly proud to earn this recognition and grateful for the role Salisbury University has played as a partner in our work. It's a pleasure and an honor.” (Matt Heim, LSLT Executive Director)
