From AmeriCorps to the Airwaves
Hello LSLT Readers! A year ago (wow time moves fast!) I wrote a newsletter introducing myself as LSLT’s new AmeriCorps member. Now, I write this to announce that my program year has come to an end. Over the course of the program, you’ve hopefully read my newsletters, seen my photos, or heard my voice on our radio segment Conservation Conservations. There’s also been work behind the scenes you may not have seen: monitoring properties, brainstorming for new management plans, and writing new easements. It’s been a joy to collaborate and create with this incredible team to bring you fun content. More importantly, I’ve loved working together to preserve the Lower Shore’s unique landscape and communities.
I have adored my time at LSLT. I first met the team last summer during my research with Salisbury University interviewing green nonprofit professionals. The words they said in their interviews are true to how they live their lives every day. The team is incredibly caring, not only for their environment but for the people they serve. They all want to leave the earth a little better than they found it and I can confirm that they’ve left me a little better after working together. I’m so excited for the new and upcoming AmeriCorps members to experience their hard work and team spirit.
While I will not be working with the LSLT team every day, I won’t be far! I have accepted a position with Delmarva Public Media as their Outreach and Membership Coordinator. This position will give me new opportunities to learn more about nonprofit work and to connect with even more communities in Delmarva. So, keep your ears open for my voice on the airwaves, and thank you for all the support over my AmeriCorps program!
