It’s been a busy summer here at the Lower Shore Land Trust! We’re excited to share some updates on new additions to our team, internal transitions, and farewells to valued board members.

We’re pleased to welcome Laura Baasland as our new part-time Administrative Assistant. Laura brings valuable experience from her previous roles in the City of Salisbury, where she worked in both the Mayor’s Office and the Department of Water and Sewer. She’ll be helping keep the office running smoothly and efficiently.

Please join us in welcoming Byron Beauchamp and Steve Marsh to our Board of Directors! Byron is a fifth-generation farmer who brings a deep-rooted connection to the land along with a wealth of experience. Steve is a East Region Director of Operations at George Miles & Buhr who specializes in hydrology and stormwater. Both bring a fresh perspective that will strengthen and enrich our work.

We also welcomed Josh Curtis, a summer intern from Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business. Josh has been instrumental in refining our grant tracking database system, bringing fresh energy and technical skills to the team.

A Familiar Face in a New Role

We’re thrilled that Brooke Orr, who has served as an AmeriCorps member through the ShoreCorps program at Salisbury University, will be staying on in a full-time position! Brooke will continue to lead LSLT’s communications and will take on new responsibilities supporting the coordination of the Delmarva Restoration and Conservation Network.

Farewell and Gratitude

We also bid farewell to two of our dedicated board members, Rachel Pennington and Colin McAllister, who have completed their terms. We are incredibly grateful for their meaningful contributions and lasting impact. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors and hope to see them at future events like the Flannel Formal and other outreach gatherings!
